Myre-Big Island State Park has two campgrounds – Big Island with 35 densely wooded campsites (17 with electric hookups), and White Fox with 64 more open (less trees/shade) campsites (15 with electric hookups). Both are located next to Albert Lea Lake. There are also 4 backpack sites and 1 group site available.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 60 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Campground amenities include drinking water, vault & flush toilets, hot showers ($) and a dump station. There’s also a nature store/gift shot, paddle boat rentals, firewood and ice for sale at the park.
Outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, hunting, hiking, biking and picnicking. The Blazing Star State Trails runs from the campground to the town of Albert Lea. Albert Lea Lake and marshes also draw a variety of waterfowl during migration. Winter recreation includes ice fishing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
