Norway Beach Recreation Area Overview
Norway Beach Recreation Area campground has 4 loops and 170 campsites located on the southern shores of beautiful Cass Lake in north central Minnesota. Reservations are available for the Norway Beach Loop only. Other loop campsites are first come first serve.
Campsites are suitable for tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Campground amenities include drinking water, vault/flush toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host.

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, water sports, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
Interpretive trails, sandy beaches, a paved biking trail, boat ramps, a reservable picnic shelter and the Norway Beach Visitor Center are all available for the visitors use.
You may also like Schoolcraft State Park, Lake Bemidji State Park or Mabel Lake Campground.

FYI… after these photos were taken in May, a wind storm on July 2, 2012, decimated this park. They closed it indefinitely. Hopefully it will be open again next year as it is our favorite spot. As for how it looks now, I saw it from the highway. The entrance used to be dark as old growth Norway Pines flanked each side of the road. Now there is blue sky everywhere. We were not able to get into the park to see how bad it was. 🙁
Camped there this past weekend and there are just over a handful of sites that are affected by the blowdown. We stayed here the year before the storm and the campground loops have hardly changed. The cathedral like entrance is definitely no more but your camping experience will not be any different unless you end up in one of the few sites affected. We camped in the Chippewa loop and drove around the entire campground more than once to make sure we weren’t missing something. All in all good news.
