Sakatah Lake State Park campground is located next to the lake and has 62 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs (up to 55 feet). There are 14 campsites with electric hookups, 5 bike-in campsites and 2 group campsites. There’s also a cabin you can rent.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers and a dump station (all open from mid May through mid October). Vault toilets are available throughout the year. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill. Firewood and ice are available for sale at the Park. There’s also 4 canoes you can rent!
Sakatah Lake has 3.5 miles of shoreline along the lake, but its a bit shallow so you may see some algae growth (and a little smell) in mid summer. Spring, early summer and fall offer some nice fishing and boating. Other outdoor activities include canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, picnicking, horseback riding, in-line skating and wildlife viewing.
The 39-mile Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail (a former railroad grade) runs through the park and also offers a nice biking and hiking, as well as snowmobiling in the winter.
Nerstrand Big Woods State Park is about 25 miles to the east if you’re up for more camping. It has 51 campsites (27 with electric hookups).
