Split Rock Lighthouse State Park is located on the North Shore of Lake Superior and offers a variety of camping and recreational opportunities.
Shipwreck Creek Campground has 46 single-family campsites with electric hookups. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 7o feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grill. There are also 20 “cart-in” campsites between Lake Superior and Day Hill, and 4 backpack/kayak sites available at the Park. Campers will use a cart assigned for their campsite to load up on water jugs and gear. Cart-in campsites range from 1/2 mile to 2 miles from the campground parking lot. Several of the cart-in campsites are located on the rocky Lake Superior shoreline. Each campsite also has a table, food storage locker, fire ring and tent pad.
Amenities include modern restrooms (flush toilets and water), showers and trash collection. Cell service is good. Generators are okay to use from 8am to 10pm. The park also has a gift shop and visitor center. Firewood and ice are also available for sale at the park office.
Outdoor recreation includes hiking, kayaking, canoeing, paddle-boarding, fishing, swimming, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Tours of the historic Split Rock Lighthouse are available May 15 to October 15.
