William O’Brien State Park campground is located along the St Croix River and has 125 single-family campsites (71 with electric hookups) set in a wooded forest that offers nice shade for beautiful 100-year old pine trees. The campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 60 feet). The campground has modern restrooms with flush toilets and showers, vault toilets and a dump station (available mid-April through mid-October). Each developed campsite has a table, fire ring and grill. There are also 4 cabins to rent, 2 walk-in sites and 4 group sites.
William O’Brien State Park is only an hour drive from the Twin Cities area and is located on the banks of the St. Croix River. Outdoor activities include canoeing/kayaking, wildlife viewing, fishing, hiking, biking and winter sports. During the summer the park offers free equipment for overnight and day use visitors including fishing poles and tackle, birding kits, horseshoes, volleyballs, soccer balls and bocce balls! There’s also canoe and kayak rentals for paddling on the St. Croix River and Lake Alice.
Interstate State Park is also located along the St. Croix River about 15 miles north on MN-95 N. the campground has 37 campsites. You may also be interested in Wild River State Park.
