Markham Spring Recreation Area campground is located in the southwestern corner of Missouri’s Mark Twain National Forest and next to the Black River. The campground is set up in 4 loops and has 51 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. The Birch loop (campsites 41-51) has electric hookups (50 amp). Pine, River and Sycamore loops are standard (non-electric) campsites. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring, grate and lantern post.
Markham Spring campground has drinking water, vault toilets, showers, a boat ramp, picnic area and hiking trails. Also, the historic Fuchs House is sometimes available for rent. Some cell service is available in the area.
Visitors can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities including: canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hiking, biking and wildlife viewing.
Pinewoods Lake campground is another option (about 21 miles away) and has 16 campsites (no hookups).
