Charles Waters Campground has 26 single-family campsites not far from Bass Creek in the Bitterroot National Forest. The campground is first-come, first-serve and has drinking water and vault toilets.

There is one double site, four pull-through sites, one bicycle site (#27) and one equestrian site. Campsite #2 is an accessible site with electric hookups.  Group camping is also available (site 14).

Campsites are large and can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 70 feet). Each campsite also has a paved parking spur, table, fire ring and grate. A camp host is also available Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Please note that the bicycle site and horse site are reserved for those users until 6 p.m. daily after which time if no one is occupying them then they are considered available on a first come first served basis.

Charles Waters – Area Recreation

Also associated with the Charles Waters Campground is the Bass Creek Recreation Area. This recreation area includes four picnic sites; an interpretive nature trail; fire ecology trail and numerous trailheads to hiking, biking and stock routes with access to the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness.  Other recreation in the area includes fishing, horseback riding, hunting, mountain biking, OHVing and wildlife viewing.

You may also like Lolo Creek or Blodgett campgrounds. Beavertail Hill State Park is also nice.
