Lonesomehurst Campground has 27 large campsites and is located next to the Hebgen Lake in the Custer-Gallatin National Forest near West Yellowstone.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. There are 5 sites with electric hookups. The largest parking spur is 30′ x 45′. Each campsite also has a table, food storage locker, fire ring and grate. Amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. Firewood is also available for purchase from the camp host. There is also a boat ramp (and trailer parking) near the campground. Cell service is good in the area.
Hebgen Lake is known for its world-class fishing. Other popular activities in the area include boating, kayaking, canoeing, water sports, hiking, mountain biking, OHV trail riding, hunting, horseback riding and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also fantastic with opportunities to see bear, moose, elk, deer and eagles. For that matter, you may also see a pika, shrew, pocket gopher, skunk, beaver and other forest creatures.
Other campgrounds in the area include Cherry Creek, Rainbow Point and Bakers Hole (next to the Madison River).
