Madison River (MT) Overview
Madison River Campground has 10 campsites located near the Madison River in southwestern Montana about 45 miles west of Yellowstone National Park. The campground borders a Douglas Fir covered hillside to the back, with the Madison River just across the road.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 30 feet). Each site also has a gravel parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. The campground generally opens in mid March and closes in mid September. First-come first-serve camping is available mid March to mid May, and sites can be reserved from mid May to mid September. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, vault toilets and trash collection. Bear proof food storage lockers are also available. Cell service is fair in the area.
Area Recreation & Activities
Outdoor recreation int he area includes fishing, rafting, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, OHV trail riding, hunting, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
Other campgrounds in the general area include Cliff Point, Wade Lake, Beaver Creek and Cabin Creek.
