Spire Rock Campground Custer Gallatin National Forest Montana

Spire Rock Overview

Spire Rock Campground has 20 campsites and is located next to Storm Castle Creek and near the Gallatin River. Most campsites are right along the creek and surrounded by spruce and fir trees. Campsite #12 is set aside for group overnight camping or day-use picnicking.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a parking spur, table, fire ring and grill. Campground amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. Potable (drinking) water is not available at the campground. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is not available in the area.

Spire Rock Campground – Area Recreation

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, rafting, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also great with opportunities to see bald eagles, bighorn sheep, moose, elk, mountain goats, deer and coyote. Black and grizzly bears also live in the canyon.  Anglers cast for rainbow, brown, brook and cutthroat trout, whitefish and Arctic grayling on the Gallatin River.

Other campgrounds in the area include Greek Creek, Swan Creek, Moose Creek Flat, and Mouse Creek Group Site.
