Tally Lake Campground Flathead National Forest Montana

Tally Lake Overview

Tally Lake Campground has 40 campsites (including one group) and is located on the northern shore of the lake and west of Whitefish, Montana. Seventeen are held for first-come, first-serve campers and the others can be reserved. Campsites are fairly large and set among a mature forest of Western Larch and Douglas fir trees. Sites 33-38 have nice views of the lake.

The campground is generally open mid May to early October. Amenities include drinking water (water spigots), vault toilets, trash collection and a dump station.  There’s also a nice day-use area that has a boat ramp, picnic pavilion, volleyball court and other amenities.  Firewood is also available for purchase from the camp host. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. Cell service is not available at the campground.

Tally Lake – Area Recreation & Activities

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities including boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, hiking, horeseback riding, mountain biking and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also nice in the area and there are some good OHV trails around. Canoe and kayak rentals are available near the boat ramp.
