Crabtree Falls Campground has 81 campsites and is located in a forested area right along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The 70-foot waterfall is also accessible from the campground.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 55 feet). Each site also has a paved parking spur, table, food storage locker, fire ring and grill. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, trash collection and a dump station. Cell service is fair.
The 253-acre Crabtree Falls Recreation Area in North Carolina contains meadows which still speak of the area’s long history as a farming community. Bursting with wildflowers (including hawthorne, beard tongue, mountain laurel and gentian) in the spring, the meadows abut towering hardwood forests of oak, birch, and hickory, and are often dotted with thickets of rhododendrons. Visitors can enjoy hiking, picnicking and stargazing. Wildlife viewing is also good in the area.
