We got here before 6am to try and get a camping site in a timely manner and this campground has very bad communication skills. First, all the signs have NO time on them. No opening time. Not even online. A sign stated that particular loops open today for the new season… no time stated. We waited until 8am at the entrance behind another vehicle we saw someone sleeping in and a man with a red Dodge Ram 2500 and few teeth opened the gate…. proceeded to drive in…. woke the car up in front of us… let them in… then closed the gate. We had to literally chase him down to ask questions regarding when the sites open for the public… he stated “12 I think”. After all this hassle we looked at some of the sites that were open and they are all so small, I honestly don’t know where a tent would fit. We are going to drive 2 extra hours to Pisgah after our 4 hour drive here to see if they have better options… because this is ridiculous. At this point I would not recommend this to anyone who is an early riser like most campers.
There are no hours listed, but under the contact us tab, there is a phone number listed….For campground inquiries, please call: 828-963-5911 (MAY – OCTOBER). I would suggest calling ahead of your planned trip. We have always had fun staying at Julian Price.
I love it here this is my Fav. place with no electric makes it more peaceful and you can always get a spot not like other places, I have been looking for two days just so My boyfriend could have tv, ha, ha, guess he won’t get to watch sports guess it’s me time, relax and do nothing!
Love this place, go almost every year. This was the first year we went on the RV side, great time and great people. Book ahead on Recreation.gov to get the spot you want and all will work out just fine.
