Smokemont Group Camp Overview

Smokemont Group Camp has 3 group sites (Loop D of Smokemont Campground) in a forested area near the Oconaluftee River / Bradley Fork.

Group sites (tent camping only) are available mid April through October. Each of the three group sites can have up to 20 campers and 5 vehicles). Each site also has tables, fire rings, lantern posts and BBQs.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, trash collection and a dump station. There’s also a visitor center, interpretive programs and a large grassy area perfect for sports activities. Firewood is available to purchase over at the horse stables. Generators can be used from 8am to 9pm. Cell service is not available in the area.

Smokemont Group Camp – Area Recreation

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited in the United States with 8-10 million enjoying the many outdoor recreational activities in the forest straddling the border between North Carolina and Tennessee. Outdoor activities include hiking, fishing, horseback riding, backpacking, wildlife viewing, picnicking and exploring the many historic sites.
