Johnson Lake State Recreation Area Overview

Johnson Lake State Recreation Area campgrounds are located next to the beautiful lake and have a total of 112 campsites with electric hookups. Primitive/basic tent camping sites are also available.

Main campground (82 sites) is on the south east side of the lake. The campground is shady and located close to shower facilities. It also has a sandy beach area and plenty of picnic areas. Inlet campground (3o sites) has several waterfront campsites. It also has a boat ramp and excellent bank fishing.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilet, hot showers, laundry facilities and a dump station. There’s also a camp host, boat ramp, playground and picnic area.

Johnson Lake State Recreation Area – Activities & Info

Johnson Lake is the main attraction, which offers a variety of water sports and outdoor recreation including boating, fishing, water-skiing, sailboarding, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and some mighty fine fishing. Other activities include hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. For golfers, there is also an 18-hole golf course close by.
