Lake Ogallala State Recreation Area campground is located on the was side of Kingsley Dam and has 82 single-family campsites with several right on the lakeshore. The campsites are very large with big Cottonwood trees providing nice shade to most sites. There are 62 with electrical hookups and also another 180 non-designated campsites in the State Recreation Area.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers and a dump station. There’s also a boat ramp, fish cleaning station and playground. Firewood is also available for sale. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate.
The 320-acre Lake Ogallala has a nice protected shoreline and the cooler waters provide some really great fishing. Other activities include canoeing, kayaking, swimming, scuba diving, hiking, biking, hunting, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
