Windmill State Recreation Area Overview

Windmill State Recreation Area campground offers 69 large single-family campsites with electrical hookups and is located close to a few of the sandpit lakes. Campsites are suitable for tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilet, hot showers, laundry facilities and a dump station. There’s also a playground and picnic area.

The campground has modern restrooms with showers, a laundry facility, and playground. Check out some of our favorite campsites listed below. Cell service is fair in the area.

Windmill State Recreation Area – Activities & Info

The well-maintained park is a favorite among Nebraska’s  unique “chain of lakes” along Interstate 80.  Visitors can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreation including fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.  Don’t forget to also check out the antique windmills!
