Elephant Butte Lake State Park campground has 173 developed campsites (144 with partial and 8 with full hookups) in four campgrounds next to the lake. The campgrounds include Desert Cove (17 campsites), Lion’s Beach (48 campsites), Quail Run (27 campsites) and South Monticello (50 campsites). There are also primate and group sites available.
The campground is open year round and amenities include drinking water, flush/vault toilets, showers and a dump station. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. The park also has boat ramps, fishing pier, marina, boat slips, group picnic areas and a playground.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate.
The largest and most popular lake in New Mexico, Elephant Butte Lake State Park provides a setting for every imaginable water sport. Outdoor activities include boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, water-skiing, jet-skiing, windsurfing, sailing, ATVing, hiking, biking, hunting, volleyball, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The visitor center also offers regional interpretive exhibits.
You may also like Caballo Lake State Park. Water Canyon (to the north) offers some nice remote camping.
