James Canyon Overview

James Canyon campground offers 6 primitive campsites on a first-come, first-serve basis and is located in the Lincoln National Forest a few miles from Mayhill, NM.

Campsites can accommodate tents, small trailers and RVs (less than 16 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Campground amenities include water and one vault toilet.

James Canyon – Area Recreation

Outdoor recreation in the area includes hiking, mountain biking, ATV, hunting, horseback riding, picnicking, stargazing and photographing. Wildlife viewing can also be good as well.

You may also be interested in Oliver Lee Memorial State Park or White Sands National Park. The quaint mountain town of Cloudcroft is just 16 miles away and offers some restaurants and shops you can visit.
