Sugarite Canyon State Park has two campgrounds – Lake Alice with 16 sites and Soda Pocket with 25. There are 9 sites with water and electric (30 amp) hookups and 2 full hookup campsites (30 amp).  Group camping is also available.

Campsites are suitable for tents, trailers and RVs. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill.

The campground has drinking water, vault toilets, trash collection, hot showers and a campfire center.  The park also has a boat ramp, historic sites and visitor center.

Sugarite Canyon State Park – Area Recreation

Located on the Colorado border, the Park  features heavily wooded mountains and meadows. Outdoor recreation includes camping, boating (electric motors only), canoeing, kayaking, sailing, hunting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking, backpacking, wildlife viewing, as well as winter activities such as cross-country skiing, sledding and snowshoeing.

  1. Turkey hunting several years ago (called them in but was unsuccesful with traditional bow/arrow) I saw four (4) bears within 10 minutes, two on each side of the canyon when walking down trail. Nice! We need more bears and fewer big trailers etc.

    Can I put a motorized boat on the lake?

    • Hi Dale,
      Electric motors are allowed on the lake. Gasoline motors are not allowed making it popular with sailing, fishing, flat water kayaking and canoeing enthusiasts. Swimming is not allowed either.
