Tetilla Peak Recreation Area Overview

Lake Cochiti

Tetilla Peak Recreation Area Campground has 44 single-family campsites which are located close to Cochiti Lake and within the Pueblo de Cochiti Indian Reservation.  There are 36 campsites with electric hookups. All campsites also have a table, shade shelter, fire ring and grate. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs.  Group camping is also available.

Tetilla Peak campground is bit more primitive than Cochiti Recreation Area campground, located on the other side of the lake. Roads and parking spurs are paved. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush & vault toilets, hot showers ($) and a dump station. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. Cell service is good in the area.

Tetilla Peak Recreation Area

The area offer spectacular scenic views of the water and surrounding mountains. Cochiti Lake is in a high desert environment, and the dominant vegetation is desert scrubland.  Other outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, swimming, fishing, hiking, biking and picnicking. There are also many opportunities for wildlife viewing.
