Villanueva State Park Overview

Villanueva State Park campground has 33 single-family campsites (12 with electric hookups) and is located in a beautiful area of red and yellow sandstone cliffs along the Pecos River. Six of the campsites are reservable and the rest are first-come, first-serve. The reservable sites are 6, 7, 8, 19, 21 and 22.

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. Camgpround amenities include drinking water, flush and vault toilets, showers and a dump station. There’s also a playground and visitor center.

Villanueva State Park – Area Recreation

Outdoor recreation includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking/biking, picnicking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. Canoeing, kayaking and rafting are popular sports in the spring when the river is higher. A footbridge gives hikers access to trails leading along the river, including a prehistoric Indian ruin and a cliff-top vantage point. You can also visit the nearby historic Spanish-colonial village of Villanueva.

You may also like Hyde Memorial State Park or Storrie Lake State Park.
