Cathedral Gorge State Park Campground has 24 campsites (all with electrical hookups) set in a spectacular canyon of geological features in southeastern Nevada. Campsites can be reserved and each has a table, fire ring, grill, BBQ and shade ramada. Campsite 23 and 24 are ADA. Campers with horse trailers (and horses) can camp in the group area at the end of the turnaround. Equestrian campers can also set up portable corrals in the group area.
The campground has drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers, a picnic area, volleyball court and an RV dump station. Firewood is also available for sale at the campground.
The park includes 1,600 acres and 5 miles of hiking/walking trails that take you through the unique geological features of the park. This scenic canyon offers fantastic photo opportunities, horse back riding, biking, stargazing and wildlife viewing. There are also a couple of nice slot canyons to explore in the area including Moon Caves and Cathedral Cave.
Kershaw-Ryan State Park offers another camping option about 12 miles to the south along U.S. Route 93. Other state parks in the area include Beaver Dam, Spring Valley and Echo Canyon.

Amazing place to visit, love the coolness of the gorge. The hike was also beautiful. Recommend to all & check out the beautiful scenery of NEVADA
Hi there,
We travel by tent and car next year in May through Nevada. Is it possible to make a reservation on your campsite Cathedral Gorge State Park Campground for a tent site with two adults? We will arrive in the period from May 22nd till May 25th. We want to stay just for one night , but have no exact date.
Can you tell me if it is necessary and possible to make this reservation?
We would be very glad to hear from you.
Gerard and Maria Weisscher
Hi Gerard,
Cathedral Gorge State Park campground is first-come, first-serve (no reservations). It its open all year. May 25 is Memorial Day and I suspect the campground will be busy that weekend.
Accommodations for horses??
Would like to stop and hike the trail on our way from Arizona to idaho
This is a VERY COOL website
Thanks Dave! Glad you like our site.
Campers with horse trailers (and horses) can camp in the group area at the end of the turnaround (not in main campground area). Equestrian campers can also set up portable corrals in the group area. However, there are no equestrian facilities (water, corral, tie bar, etc.). Hope you have a great trip!
Wondered if would be hard to get a site if come on weekday in May 2021?
Hi Nanette,
Chances are (very) good campsites will be available mid-week in May at Cathedral Gorge State Park.
How much is campsite per night? And how do you pay ? Cash or card
Hi Loretta,
All Campsites at Cathedral Gorge State Park are first-come, first-serve and you’ll pay at the campground (ranger station). I’m not sure if they take credit cards. Here are the rates:
Day use entrance fee: $5.00 per vehicle (Non-NV Vehicles $10.00 per vehicle)
Camping: $15.00 per vehicle, per night (Non-NV Vehicles: $20.00 per vehicle, per night) + $10.00 for sites with utility hook ups
Bike in: $2.00 per bike
Hi,
I am wondering if the sites have enough room for an RV and vehicle in same site, with room for 1 tent.
Hi Katie,
Yes, the sites (parking pads) are quite large. And RV and another vehicle will fit in the campsites . . . with room for a tent.
Wondering if a large RV stands a chance of finding a suitable campsite arriving midweek late September? Thanks in advance for any assistance 🙂
Hi Shelley,
I’d say your chances are really good with a late September mid-week arrival to get a campsite suitable for a large RV. I also recommend calling the park as they are generally good about answering your call and giving their opinion. The number is: 775 728-4460
