Cave Lake State Park Elk Flat campground is one of two campgrounds at Cave Lake State Park and has 15 campsites located about a mile from Cave Lake. Lake View is the other campground and is located over by the lake and is open year-round.
The campground is first-come, first-serve and is open early may to mid-October. Showers and flush-type toilets are available while the campground is open. Campsites are suitable for tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate. A dump station is located at Lake View campground.
From the campground you can enjoy hiking and mountain biking. Stargazing is pretty sweet too. Recreation over at the lake includes boating (boat ramp available), canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, picnicking, hiking and wildlife viewing. There are also a few ATV trails/roads in the area. Winter recreation includes ice fishing, ice skating, snowmobiling, sledding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Elk Flat is our favorite of the two campgrounds at Cave Lake State Park. The spaces are farther apart so more private, and because it’s farther from the lake there’s less traffic. It’s always very well maintained too.
