Dayton State Park Campground Nevada

Dayton State Park Overview

Dayton State Park has 10 campsites in a scenic area next to the Carson River at the foot of the Virginia Range.

The park features the remains of the Rock Point Mill built in 1861, a remnant of Dayton’s mining glory days. Old stone walls from the mill, one of the first to process ore from the Comstock Lode, still stand among cottonwood, sagebrush and willows.

Camping

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 75 feet). Hookups are not available but each site has a table, fire ring and grill. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, trash collection and a dump station. Cell service is good in the area.

There is also a large (reservable) group picnic area that has 10 tables, a sink, electric outlets, a large BBQ, lawn area and plenty of parking.  Additional picnic sites are also located throughout the park.

Dayton State Park – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, picnicking, geocaching and wildlife viewing.  The Dayton Valley Golf Course, recognized as one of the premier courses in Northern Nevada, is also a few miles away.
