Area Recreation & Activities
The recreation area features self-guided tour (1/2 mile trail) with multiple petroglyph panels, high-desert flora, and views of the Toquima and Toiyabe mountain ranges and the Big Smoky Valley. The area was home to prehistoric people (8,000 B.C), the Western Shoshone, as well as more recent sites such as mining camps and ranches.
This is a great place for hiking, stargazing and checking out the ancient petroglyphs and protected cultural resources. There are also some OHV and mountain biking trails in the area.
Other campgrounds in the area include Bob Scott, Kingston and Big Creek.
