Spooner Lake State Park Overview

Spooner Lake State Park is nestled in the Lake Tahoe Basin and offers backcountry camping and a 2 cabin rentals near Spooner Lake.  The park is open year-round. Camping/cabins are available early May to mid October (weather permitting).

The park features 50 miles of hiking, equestrian and mountain biking trails/primitive roads.  It also has a visitor center and amphitheater.

Camping

Three primitive, walk-to campgrounds include Marlette Peak, Hobart and North Canyon. Each campsite has a table, bear food storage locker and trash storage boxes. All food and trash must be packed out.

Cabins

The Spooner Lake Cabin sleeps 4 people and the Wildcat Cabin sleeps 2 people. Both cabins have beds, cook stoves, wood burning stoves and composting toilets.

Spooner Lake State Park – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation includes hiking, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, mountain biking picnicking and wildlife viewing. Winter recreation includes cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Visitors can also participate in cultural history programs and ranger-led hikes/tours. There is also a unique science venue for students.

Nevada Beach Campground is also nearby.
