Wheeler Peak Campground 37 single-family campsites set among aspen groves in the shadow of Wheeler Peak at an elevation of 9,500 feet. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 24 feet).
Amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. Water is not available but you can fill containers at the Lehman Caves Visitor Center. There is also a dump station is available (spring through early fall) at the Lehman Caves Visitor Center. Each campsite has a paved parking spur, a table, fire ring and grill. Some cell service is available in the area.
Other campgrounds in Great Basin National Park include Baker Creek, Grey Cliffs, Lower Lehman Creek and Upper Lehman Creek. Primitive camping is also available along Snake Creek Road.
Great Basin National Park encompasses over 77,000 acres and offers the visitors a variety of outdoor recreation activities including hiking/backpacking, fishing, wildlife viewing, picnicking, star-gazing, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, biking and much more. You can also hike up to the Wheeler Peak (13,063) and see 5,000-year-old Bristlecone pine trees or tour the beauty of Lehman Caves. Fall is also a great time to visit and see spectacular autumn colors.
