Wild Horse State Recreation Area Overview

Wild Horse State Recreation Area’s campground has 34 campsites next to Wild Horse Reservoir in remote area of northern Nevada. Three cabins are also available to rent year-round.

Wild Horse SRA Camping

Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. There are no hookups but each site has a table, shade ramada, fire ring and grill. Campground amenities include drinking water (summer months), flush toilets, hot-water showers and trash collection. An RV dump station is also available (summer months).

Cabins

Each cabin has a covered front deck, living room with sleeper sofa, eating area with table, chairs, mini-fridge, microwave (no cooktop or conventional oven), bathroom, heating and air conditioning. Wifi is not available and AT&T is the only cellular network that services the area.

Wild Horse Crossing and Big Bend are other campgrounds in the area.

Wild Horse SRA – Area Recreation & Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating (boat ramp available), canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Hunting is also popular (outside of the park).  Winter sports recreation include ice skating, sledding, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
