Mongaup Pond Campground has 154 (mixed-used) campsites and is located on the banks of Mongaup Pond. Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grate. The campground has drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers ($), trash collection and dump station. There’s also a picnic area, playground and camp store with firewood, ice, groceries and supplies.
Outdoor activities include boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Boat rentals are also available down by the pond. Winter sports includes snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
Evidence of the area’s unique natural history can be seen in the impressive skyline formed by the ninety-eight peaks over 3,000 feet in elevation. Human activities such as logging, quarrying, tanning, trapping, and fishing have also shaped the areas more recent history.
Two other campgrounds in the area include Little Pond (68 sites) and Beaverkill (83 sites).
