Alfred A. Loeb State Park campground has a total of 53 campsites (48 with electric hookups / maximum 50 feet) close to the Chetco River among a forest of towering trees. Several campsites and three rental cabins face the river.
The campground has drinking water, flush toilets and hot showers ($). Campsites can accommodate trailers and RVs. Tents are okay too but most sites don’t have a large area to pitch a tent. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. Firewood is also available for ale from the camp host. There is no dump station.
The Chetco River offers some of the finest fall and winter salmon and steelhead fishing on the south coast. Visitors can bank fish from the gravel bar or use a drift boat. Other outdoor recreation includes canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Visitors often see chipmunks, osprey and even river otters.
Harris Beach State Park is just 10 miles away and along the Oregon Coast.
