Cape Lookout State Park features more than eight miles of hiking and walking trails along the beach and through old-growth forests. Beach combing is popular here and the area is a good place to find glass floats. Also be sure to look up when you visit this park as you’ll probably spot a hang glider or paraglider. Other activities include bird watching, fishing, hiking, historic trails, whale watching, beach access, wildlife watching, nature programs, and biking.

Sandbeach Campground is just 10 miles south and also on Oregon’s North Coast. It has 81 campsites for tents, trailers and RVs.

Stayed 7/26-29 2016. Campground located right at the beach. Most sites are more suitable for RV’s then tents as there is little to no privacy. The A & B loops in particular are basically a field with some sites practically on the bathroom lawn. If you are a tent camper and looking for some privacy I recommend B33, B16, B12, C10, C25, C32, , D30, D36, D38, D53, D54, D66 although it is close to the bathroom/shower facility, D70 for 1 small tent (our 6 person tent put us VERY close to the fire ring, D72. Spots near C25-32 were mainly families with kids enjoying that quintessential camping trip joining the kids from neighboring sites riding bikes and scooters around the ‘hood , The yurts seemed nice with not a lot of private outdoor space. Spots C20-24 were adjacent to the Jr. Ranger program area which does host some evening events (8:00 PM) which may be annoying if you have kids that go to bed early. Sites A55 & 56 are closest to the beach decent tent sites but little to no privacy.
All sites have reasonably close beach access. There are hikes that can be accessed via the campground.
We found a lot of sand dollars that were mostly intact..
They come around with firewood (cash only) or you can purchase at the Registration booth (cash or credit). Garbage/recycling is located across from the registration booth.

We arrived at the campground at check-in time and found no one around front registration was closed and no park employees could be found. We proceeded to our site and parked again. Another disappointment found no cable or Wi-Fi and we had no other information about our site. Quite disappointing. Not sure I would recommend this park.
