McKay Crossing Campground is in a beautiful (but remote) area and has 15 campsites in a peaceful setting along both sides of Paulina Creek in the Deschutes National Forest.
The well-maintained campground is generally open mid May to early October. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (up to 26 feet). Campsites along the creek include 2 to 4 and 6 to 9. Each site also has a gravel parking area able, fire ring and grate. Hookups are not available.
Campground amenities include vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available for purchase from the camp host. Cell service is fair at the campground.
Outdoor recreation includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking, photography and wildlife viewing. There’s a nice waterfall near the campground as well as other areas to explore. Lava Lands Visitor Center is also worth a visit and Volcanic National Monument is also nearby.
Other campgrounds in the area include Prairie, Ogden Group, Big River, Pringle Falls, Wyeth and Bull Bend.
