Prineville Reservoir State Park Overview
Prineville Reservoir State Park offers year-round camping next to the reservior in a high-desert setting of central Oregon. This is also a “certified International Dark Sky Park” where the stars truly shine brighter!
Prineville Campground has 67 campsites (22 with full hookups, 23 with water & electric, and 23 tent sites). There are also 5 deluxe log cabins available to rent. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot-water showers and trash collection. Firewood and ice are also available to purchase, and there’s also an amphitheater, observatory, volleyball courts, boat ramp and boat trailer lots next to the campground. Each campsite has a paved parking spur, table, fire ring and grill.
Jasper Point Campground (also next to the reservoir) is about 3 miles away and has 28 (first-come, first-serve) campsites with electrical hookups. One reservable cabin is also available. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot-water showers, trash collection and an RV dump station. There’s also a boat ramp next to the campground.
Outside the park there are also several first-come, first-serve (primitive) BLM campgrounds along the Crooked River. These include Big Bend, Castle Rock, Chimney Rock, Cobble Rock, Lone Pine, Palisades, Poison Butte and Post Pile. All of these campgrounds are small and open year round. You might also like Tumalo State Park.
