Smiling River Campground offers 36 single-family campsites set among Ponderosa Pines and is next to the upper Metolius River in the Deschutes National Forest. The campground is open year-round with reservations accepted mid May to mid September.

Campsites are large and can accommodate tents, trailers or RVs (up to 50′). Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate.

The campground has vault toilets and potable water. The camp host also sells firewood. The Camp Sherman Store is just one mile to the south if you need any supplies. Cell service is not available at the campground.

Smiling River Campground – Area Recreation

Outdoor recreation includes fishing, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

Other campgrounds in the area include Allen Springs, Allingham, Camp Sherman, Lower Canyon Creek, Riverside, Jack Creek, Pine Rest and Gorge.
