Southshore Campground at Detroit Lake has 25 single-family campsites and 5 double-family campsites. It is located on the (wait for it) south shore of the lake. Piety Knob Island is nearby and campsites are set among towering trees. Some walk-in sites are also available.
Campground amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. There’s also a boat ramp, boat dock and firewood for sale from the camp host. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Most sites fit trailers/RVs from 15 to 30 feet but a few sites can handle 110 feet. Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grate. Cell service is good.
Detroit Lake is the main attraction and includes 3,500 surface acres surrounded by groves of beautiful Douglas Fir. The area also provides easy access to many hiking trails in the Willamette National Forest and Cascade Range. Outdoor recreation includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, jet skiing, swimming, fishing, hiking, picnicking, mountain biking and wildlife viewing.
Other campgrounds in the area include Cove Creek and Hoover.
