Tahkenitch Campground Siuslaw National Forest Oregon

Tahkenitch Overview

Tahkenitch 010

Tahkenitch is a beautiful campground located in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and has 30 single-family campsites (26 are reservable: 9 standard nonelectric and 17 tent only). You’ll find some nice private and secluded sites, as well as others that are more open. Each site also has a table, fire ring and grate.

Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available for sale from the friendly camp host. Cell service is not available.

There are also no hookups here and the closest waste station is at Jessie M. Honeyman State Park.

Tahkenitch – Area Recreation

Three hiking trails can be accessed next to the campground and lead to Threemile Lake and the Tahkenitch Dunes.  You’ll also find Tahkenitch Lake right across the road and offers some might fine fishing. Wildlife viewing is also great in the area with opportunities to see elk, pelicans, sea lions and bald eagles. Other activities include swimming, hiking, boating, canoeing, kayaking and picnicking.

Other Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area campgrounds include Bluebill, Lagoon, Spinreel and Waxmyrtle.
