Cost of tent camping. Do u have to have reservations

You don’t have to have reservations to camp at Hamilton Branch State Park, but it is advised particular on weekends, holidays and during the summer. You can visit the Hamilton Branch State Park Campground Page, then click on the ‘Make A Reservation’ button to check availability, pricing and make a reservation.
Great park. Sites are large, most have trees, most are lakefront, very quiet, clean bathrooms. Park roads paved, sites gravel, great for biking, walking, kayaking, boating, camp store is small, Dollar General in Modoc <10 min away. Bikes, kayaks for rent, play grounds & wildlife
This is favorite state park in SC! You won’t find any SC state park with larger campsites AND almost all are lakefront.
Is the campground and roads to the campground suitable for a 40′ motorhome?
Hi Victoria,
The camp roads work for a 40′ motorhome however, there are only a few campsites with a parking spur listed as 40 feet in length. Most campsite parking spurs are in the 30-35 foot range. You can check availability, pricing, make reservations and site parking spur size (“list view” and then clicking on the “detail” for campsites) at: https://reserve.southcarolinaparks.com/hamilton-branch/camping
The only good about the park is the view. Pretty much a tents only park. We are experienced campers and it took 1 1/2 hours JUST to get in the site with a 20 foot camper. One neighbor left because they couldn’t even get in their site. Another one left because they got infested with ants. 2 of us stayed but had to deep clean our campers when we got home. The sites were not maintained. We trimmed all the thorns at our site. The trail is not maintained. If you go, take LOTS of seven dust and hedge clippers!
