  1. We spent 4 nights in late September at campsite #47 and enjoyed it. The tent sites overall are pretty small and some are not very level but #47 was pretty nice! We had an issue with squirrels dropping heavy green pinecones in our site which tore a large hole in our tent mesh on the second day, so we moved our tent away from the pine trees. I would definitely be sure to pitch your tent away from any pine trees! There were lots of bugs but nothing troublesome, gnats and caterpillars mostly, some mosquitos and only one tick—I would recommend treating your tent with permethrin. The campground is walking distance to many trails. You can purchase firewood at the office but no ice, but there is a Dollar General 15 minutes away with lots of camp supplies including ice.
