Big Sioux State Recreation Area Overview

Big Sioux State Recreation Area campground has 50 single-family sites on the banks of South Dakota’s Big Sioux River. All campsites have electric hookups and some with full hookups.  Each campsite also has a table, fire ring and grill. There are also 3 cabins to rent.

The campground sits in a heavily forested area so there is plenty of shade in the summer. It also has drinking water, vault & flush toilets, hot showers ($) and trash collection.

Big Sioux State Recreation Area is located on the banks of South Dakota’s Big Sioux River and is popular among campers, wildlife enthusiasts, canoers and history buffs. The area is also a great place for snowmobiling in the winter. Other recreation includes mountain biking, hiking, disc golf, fishing, horseshoes and volleyball.

Palisades State Park Campground is also in the area. It’s about 13 miles north and has 34 campsites and 6 cabins.
