Iron Creek Horse Camp has 9 equestrian campsites and is located next to Iron Creek in a Ponderosa pine forest.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a parking spur, horse corral (for 2-3 horses), table, fire pit and ring. The campground is generally open mid May to early September. Amenities include drinking water, trash collection, 2 vault toilets, along with a gravity feed water link that flows into two horse troughs. Cell service is poor in the area.
Other campgrounds in the area include Bismarck Lake, Grizzly Creek, Horsethief Lake, Willow Creek Horse Camp, Oreville and Sheridan Lake.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
Possible day trips include Custer State Park with its many buffalo and other wildlife, Crazy Horse Monument and Wind Cave National Park as well as Jewel Cave which is the second longest cave in the world at 159.29 miles. It features sparkling calcite crystals and other rare formations, as well as some of the largest concentrations of passageways in the world.
Nearby riding trails treat users to beautiful views throughout their many miles.
