Pactola Reservoir Campground has 79 campsites set in a forested area on the south shore of Pacatola Reservoir in Black Hills National Forest.
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Several of the sites are tent-only and many of the campsites have views of the water. Each site also has a table, parking spur, fire ring and gill. The campground is generally open mid may to early September. Amenities include drinking water, vault toilets and trash collection. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is good in the area.
Access to the reservoir and beach is within walking distance, and 2 boat ramps are available on-site. A full service marina is nearby, offering basic supplies and services. A National Forest visitor center on the south side of the dam is open seasonally and provides visitors with information about the building of the dam and forest management.
Other campgrounds in the area include Bear Gulch Group, Sheridan Lake, Boxelder Forks, Roubaix Lake, Dalton Lake, Willow Creek Horse Camp and Horsethief Lake.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, kayaking, paddle-boarding, fishing, swimming, water sports, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
