Cosby campground is located in Great Smoky Mountains National Park and has 157 campsites in a beautiful forested area at an elevation of about 2,500 feet. Cosby Group Camp also has 3 group sites (up to 20 people per site).
Most of the campsites are for tents, but there are also some RV sites available. All of the sites are “single-family” (up to 6 people and 2 vehicles). Double-family sites are not available. Each site has plenty of shade, and also a table, fire ring and grill.
Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, trash collection and a dump station. Cell service is not available in the area.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited in the United States with 8-10 million enjoying the many outdoor recreational activities throughout the park. It’s a very popular destination for hiking, backpacking and fishing. The Park is renowned for its diversity of plant and animal life, the beauty of its mountains, and South Appalachian mountain culture. Some of the outdoor recreation opportunities at Great Smoky Mountains National Park include: auto touring, bicycling, camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and picnicking. There are also many historic sites and buildings you can explore in the area.
Other campgrounds in the area include Big Creek Group, Big Creek and Big Creek Horse Camp.
Cades Cove Campground and Elkmont Campground are also both in Smoky Mountains National Park (TN).
Deep Creek campground is another option. It’s about 68 miles away and has 92 mix-used campsites.

Stayed at the Group campsites with some Scouts. They were great – good location, two picnic tables and grills in every campsite, a couple hammocking spots. I would not have put 20 people in one of them. Two large tent pads per site.
