Elkmont Group Overview

Elkmont Group Campground has 4 group campsites and is located near the shore of the Little River in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The 4 group sites are for tent camping, accommodating anywhere from 15 to 30 people per site. Each of the group sites also have a fir pit, picnic tables and tend pads. Amenities include potable (drinking) water, flush toilets and trash collection.

A camp store with firewood, ice and other items is at the entrance to the main Elkmont Campground. Cell service is not available in the area.

The group campground is an ideal base camp to visit the wonders of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  It is also ground zero if you want to see the amazing synchronous fireflies (or lightning bugs) light up the sky in late May or early June.  Click HERE for more info on the Synchronous Fireflies Event!

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited in the United States with 8-10 million enjoying the many outdoor recreational activities.  Outdoor recreation opportunities at include auto touring, bicycling, camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, backpacking and picnicking. Wildlife viewing is also great. There are also many historic sites and buildings you can explore.
