Look Rock Campground Great Smoky Mountains National Park Tennessee

Look Rock Overview

Look Rock Campground has 68 campsites (10 with water & electric hookups) located along the beautiful Foothills Parkway West in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The campground is generally open late April to late October. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, trash collection and a dump station. Firewood is also available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is poor in the area. Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. Each site also has a parking spur (ranging in size from 15 to 35 feet), table, tent pad, fire ring and grill.

Other campgrounds in the area include Abrams Creek, Cades Cove, Cades Cove Group and Anthony Creek Horse Camp.

Look Rock Campground – Area Recreation and Activities

Outdoor recreation in the area includes hiking, biking, picnicking and wildlife viewing.

While there are no fishing opportunities at the campground itself, it is just a short drive to several lakes and many streams where trout are abundant. Many visitors enjoy the scenic views that the Look Rock observation tower offers. There is a beautiful picnic area nearby for day use. Visitor looking for scenic roadways will not be disappointed. The Foothills Parkway West offers a relaxing drive through the high country, with many scenic pulloffs along the way. Nearby is the section of State Route 129 know as “The Tail of the Dragon”. This unique section of roadway offers scenic views and features 318 curves in 11 miles.
