This campground and the management is horrible to put it lightly, the boat ramp is blocked off from campground and management is very rude and very incompetent!!! The whole campground is very inconvenient to even get to, if this is managed by Pickwick State park they are extremely poor at their jobs.the website said walk in sites available And we took our 11 year old daughter and when we entered the camp host asked us if we were going to camp and we said yes. They told us to come on in and we went to an empty site and set up camp completely while the manager drove by us twice in a golf cart. We got in our vehicle to go to the dam and put our boat in for the fireworks show and on the way out we stopped at the camp hosts and told them we need to pay for our site. They said wait here we need to get the boss. A half an hour later a man came up to our vehicle and told us we could not camp there because it was a three night minimum to be reserved in advance. There was no mention of that on any signs or the web site at all. We had to navigate through backed up traffic and pack all of our gear up in 100 degree weather. I’m actually glad we left ,the place smells horrible with huge potholes and campsites need to be upgraded. The boat ramp is blocked off from the site and there are not even sewer ports on the sites. We have camped all over the USA and have never had this bad of an experience!!!
Newly rebuilt park & new management in 2021! The park is absolutely gorgeous with new timbers, picnic tables & grills. Bathhouses are huge and kept very clean. Staff is super friendly. There is even a campground store where you can buy firewood, ice, ice cream, bait & tackle, and camping gear. I have nothing but great things to say and will return for sure.
