Dinosaur Valley State Park Overview

Dinosaur Valley State Park Dump Station

Dinosaur Valley State Park Campground is located along Paluxy and has 44 single-family campsites (with electric and water hookups) in the developed campground. There are also 8 primitive walk-to campsites (walk is 1/3 to 1/2 mile), 8 primitive hike-to sites (hike between 1 and 2.5 miles), and 2 group campsites (20 and 40 people per site).

The developed campground has water, flush toilets, showers and trash collection. A dump station is also located in the park. Each also has a paved parking spur, lantern post, BBQ pedestal, table, fire ring and grate.

The primitive (walk-to) sites have a fire ring and lantern post. Water or restrooms are not available. The primitive (hike-to) sites require you to wade the river. These don’t have any water or other facilities.

Area Recreation and Activities

The main attraction is checking out the dinosaur footprints that were left in the mud at the edge of an ancient ocean. The tracks are located in the bed of the Paluxy River. Other Actitivites include hiking, fishing, swimming, kayaking, picnicking, horse back riding and wildlife viewing. There’s also an interpretive center and camp store you can visit.
