Capitol Reef NP Group Overview

Capitol Reef NP Group Camping Area

Capitol Reef National Park’s Group campsite is near Loop C of the Fruita Campground. It is a semi-shaded, grassy campsite and is adjacent to the Fremont River in the Fruita Historic District of the park. It is also a short walk from the main campground, amphitheater, picnic areas, hiking trails, the historic Gifford house and orchards.

The group site can have up to 40 people and 10 vehicles. Vehicles can include automobiles, trailers, camper vans and RVs up to 27 feet. Anything longer won’t have room to turn around.

Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, a utility sink and trash collection. Electricity is not available. There’s also a dump station in the main campground. Cell service is not available.

Other campgrounds in the area include Singletree (with group sites) and Lower Bowns.

Area Recreation & Activities

Capital Reef National Park is a great place to explore on foot or on you mountain bike. There are lots of trails to explore areas like Cohab Canyon, Chimney Rock, the Goosenecks and Cassidy Arch.

You may also want to check out Goblin Valley State Park. It’s about 57 miles away and has 25 campsites.
