Currant Creek Campground has spacious 98 campsites and is located in a forested area on a hill above Currant Creek Reservoir at an elevation of 8,000 feet. Racetrack Creek also is near the campground. About 80 sites are reservable and the rest are first-come, first-serve. You’ll travel several miles on a (good) gravel road. From the the intersection of FR 472 / FR 471 (Currant Creek Road) it’s about 9 miles to the campground and about 6 miles from the dam to the campground.
Camp roads and campsite spurs are paved. Each can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs. There are 83 single-family campsites, 15 double sites and 4 group sites. Campsites C10, C14, C18, C20 and C21 are also okay for equestrian campers and have stalls. Three of the group sites can accommodate up to 25 people and 1 group site up to 40 people.
Camp roads and parking spurs are paved. Parking spurs range in size from 33 to 55 feet. Each site also has a table, BBQ pedestal, fire ring and grill.
Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, a dump station and trash collection. There’s also a camp store, boat ramp, fishing pier, fish cleaning station, playground, picnic area, horse corrals and firewood available to purchase from the camp host. Cell service is not available in the area.
Other campgrounds in the general area include Mill Hollow, Lodgepole and Strawberry Bay.
Outdoor recreation in the area includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing.
