Echo Park Group Site is situated along the Green River at the base of towering cliffs and offers spectacular views of the surrounding canyons, rivers and Steamboat Rock. It is one of 6 campgrounds in Dinosaur National Monument.
The one group campsite can accommodate up to 25 people (minimum of 8). You can also have up to 6 vehicles. Check in is 1:00 PM and check out is 12:00 PM.
Amenities include picnic tables, BBQ pedestals, a fire ring and grate. Water and vault toilets are located at Split Mountain Group Campground (about 800 feet away).
Fremont petroglyphs are located on the canyon walls. Bighorn sheep and mule deer frequently roam through the campground. Unimproved hiking trails lead to the confluence of the Green and Yampa Rivers or to Mitten Park. The campground is located 38 miles north of the Canyon Visitor Center
Dinosaur National Monument covers over 210,000 acres. You can see over 1,500 dinosaur fossils still in the rock inside the Quarry Exhibit Hall. There are miles of trails for hiking and cross-country travel. Whitewater rafting (permit required) is also popular on the Green and Yampa Rivers. Numerous cultural sites reveal stories of the people who lived here before and include Fremont petroglyphs, homestead cabins and former ranches. Hiking trails allow in-depth exploration. Several roads provide access to key destinations and scenic sites. Scenic drives allow the windshield visitor to see spectacular geology.
